Wow, what a year. Or should I say, the last TWO years? No matter, it’s just wow! Today is the first day I work at my new job at “3D-Zeitschrift GmbH”. Don’t let the company name fool you, this company is in business for over twenty years already, having its headquarters in Munich, Germany (capital of German state Bavaria). A lot of staff members are also working remote, so from other places in Germany as well as Romania. I am the first person from German state Saxony (that’s south-eastern Germany), so we’ll see what that may mean? ;-)
What a team! I now have the privilege of being part of an amazing, powerful and blessed team! And so funny! Being invited to the company’s Work Camp this summer in Romania’s Carpathians Mountains was a blast. One of the most exciting events I had this summer. And the best thing: I gained a whole bunch of new friends!
A company needs a great team of course, but also needs a real leader and a visionary! 3DZ was founded by Holger who is over two decades in media and publishing business and set a lot developments and trends not only in Germany but in Europe. He’s a entrepreneur and leader by heart. It’s one of his deepest passions to change the publishing industry making the full dive into mobile, HTML5, apps and even WordPress, oh yeah! :) Holger has a clear vision and is totally open-minded. I felt I joined an “emerging company”, it’s widening my horizont.
So, what’s my new job at 3DZ at all? I am done with WordPress, or what? No way, WordPress will be on my desk, my brain and my job for the time being. I am honored to help 3DZ with its WordPress activities and development for current projects and upcoming products.
Plus, I am about to discover new areas – at least for me. Being some kind of a universalist, I am helping more actively in changing publishing by contributing to the company’s news blog for this very topic. The full public launch of the next state of this blog will come soon. Though, I was always interested in the digital transformation of the media industry, my new job requires a lot more knowledge and reading for these topics. Very interesting! The third part of the job will be in supporting and helping clients, something that is known in WordPress-lingo as a “happiness engineer” oh yeah :).
After fifteen and a half year in business with DECKERWEB, I am making the biggest switch in my working history yet: joining a company and team full time, working fully remote. With my project “DECKERWEB” I experienced all lows and highs one can have with such a freelancing business. And words could not be enough to tell you all the memories and experiences I gained – for life. They will stay deep in my heart for sure.
So, if you didn’t live under a rock for the last few month you will have noticed, my WordPress and Twitter activities slowed down a lot. They finally will get up a bit more again, at last! However, as a full job requires it, my community engagements will be at a “minimum level” from now on.
In other news, I can tell you, that my family and I are doing really well. Family and kids grow, new experiences come. I couldn’t be happier as a father, husband and WordPress-fanatic, feeling really blessed. And this is also the right time to say “Thank you!” — to you all from the worldwide WordPress and Genesis communities to inspire and support me in various ways: Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I will not stop in giving back to the community and share experiences and things at upcoming WordCamps here and there. Of course I stay on Twitter as @deckerweb and keep tweeting about our beloved WordPress – and now also more about mobile, apps and publishing/ media.
Have a nice day all – and stay strong!
